Our History

American Life Music Council (ALMC) is a national coalition of certified providers dedicated to furthering the value, integration and deployment of life music care for persons and families seeking personal wellness care.

What is life music care?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) is the process of integrating an individuals personal music listening preferences with a custom wellness plan geared to promote various personal initiatives as listed on our Life Music Care page.

Who provides life music care?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) integrated wellness planning and management programs are offered through a national coalition of independent professional counselors dedicated to furthering the value, integration and deployment of music-based care and may include various types of professional practitioners such as:

  • Child Development Specialists
  • Clinical Social Workers
  • Doctors/Physicians
  • Health and Wellness Educators
  • Marriage & Family Therapists
  • Professional Counselors
  • Psychologists
  • Registered Nurses

How is life music care paid for?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) integrated planning and management program service fees and payment options may vary among planners and should be discussed with your planner prior to retaining service.

How does life music care work?

Music has the ability to provide a variety of benefits to various listeners who often make music listening part of their daily routine. For many people, listening to music they select, enjoy and control in the comfort of their own environment can help them achieve a variety of wellness benefits that may provide therapeutic recall effect.

What is therapeutic recall effect?

Therapeutic Recall Effect™ (TRE) refers to music that plays in your mind from memorable melodies that a create repeated benefiting effect that occurred when the listener was physically listening to the music.

How does life music care differ from music therapy?

  • Life Music Care™ (LMC) is the process of integrating an individuals personal music listening preferences with a personalized wellness plan geared to promote various personal initiatives facilitated by an LMC listed Planner;

whereas,

  • Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program, as defined by the AMTA.
What is the Social Impact of life music care?
Life Music Care™ (LMC) provides a common platform that can help improve important communication which can serve to ease:
  • talking with health care providers about your concerns
  • improving communication with family and friends
  • improving personal prenatal bonding initiatives
